The landscapes surrounding Puylaurens alternate hills and valleys from the North countryside named Cocagne, to the South known as Lauragais. The green slopes are planted with fields of soja, sunflowers, corn... They blow their bright yellow flowers during Spring or Summer. Nice small farms, formerly dedicated to the culture of tobacco, pastel or vineyard, dominate most of the close knolls since the middle ages. The most flourishing hillocks gather around a delicate Cathare church, a bunch of rustic cottages, a dovecote and few lonely cypress…picturesque. These pastoral and meridional clichés compare this earth to Tuscany. These so-far-preserved and genuine sceneries are a living temptation to tramp the flavoured tracks, drive down the roads shaded by plane trees, or get lost in the lanes of the small villages around. |
